🐾 Petcare Exchange Network
Trust, privacy & safety

Your pets matter. So does your privacy.

Our goal is to help neighbors exchange trusted pet care while limiting the information they share. Below is what we're building and what will be available once the live service launches.

Development preview β€” not a certification. This website is still being prepared for launch. The security practices described as β€œplanned” below are not yet independently audited or active for real members. Do not enter actual payment information or sensitive identity documents into the demo.
Architecture included

πŸ”’ Account protection

The Cloudflare backend starter stores account sessions in secure, HTTP-only cookies and stores password hashes rather than plain-text passwords. Email verification, password recovery, login-abuse limits and stronger sign-in protections must be completed before launch.

Hosted Stripe checkout design

πŸ’³ Payment privacy

When configured, membership checkout will take place on Stripe's hosted payment page. The Petcare Exchange website will not ask you to type a card number into its own forms. $50 renewal payments will require fresh member approval each year; the backend now uses one-time Checkout payments rather than subscriptions. Live billing remains disabled until Stripe has been configured and tested.

Member controls planned

πŸ‘οΈ Your information

Other members should see only the profile details needed to arrange care, such as your display name, general area, pet information and ratings. Exact street addresses, personal contact details and emergency information should be shared only when necessary and with appropriate access controls.

Backend included

πŸͺ™ Protected Chip ledger

Chips are accounted for on the server, not trusted to a browser balance. The booking workflow checks available hours, holds them when a sitter accepts, and transfers them only after the care is confirmed. Additional transaction testing is required before launch.

Verification planned

πŸ• Member verification

Member approval and identity-checking procedures are planned. Profile badges will indicate verification only after the stated checks have actually been performed; a paid membership alone is not a guarantee that a sitter is safe or qualified.

Operational policies needed

🀝 Safety and support

We plan to publish clear cancellation, incident-reporting, privacy, account-deletion and dispute procedures before accepting real pet-care bookings. Background checks and insurance, if offered, will be described precisely and only after they are in place.

What fellow members can see

Normally visible in search

Display name, approximate neighborhood or ZIP code, pet type and care preferences, verified status (when available), and reviews.

Kept private by default

Password information, payment-card details, full street address, private phone/email information, and emergency contact records.

These visibility rules are the intended production design. They require implementation and testing; the existing demo is not a production privacy guarantee.
